BLOG CONTENT STRATEGY
What Is A Blog Content Strategy
A content strategy is an in-depth plan~think of it as a map~that leads you to the actions and steps needed to create blog content, publish posts, and market those posts.
When you have a solid blog content strategy, you won't run out of ideas to write about, when to post, or how to market!
Brain Dump
Write down all of the ideas that pop into your mind that you'd like to write about that fit within your niche. Pro tip~set a timer and focus only on this one task!
Know What Is Trending
This is a process and takes time however, soooo worth it and the key to creating your blog content strategy!
Take each idea that you wrote down and plug them into Google. Partially put in the word to see what Google automatically suggests, now write those words down, too! These are phrases that are being searched. Now scroll to the bottom of the page and where it says, "People Also Search For," those are more keywords for you to click on and gather more content ideas!
Repeat this same exact step for Pinterest! Next, type each word fully into Pinterest and look at the bubbles below the search word bar, those are more keywords trending around the topic.
The last step is to go to Google Trends and input in each word or phrase you gathered from the steps above. Change the location to worldwide and the time frame to 12 months. The graph will show when each keyword is searched the most. You will want to write and post your blog content three months BEFORE it's popular!
Content Calendar
Use Google Calendar, my free blog content calendar, a different form of an electronic calendar, or a paper calendar it doesn't matter just have one for the next 12 months.
Grab your list of ideas that are now complete with the trending dates. On your calendar, write the topics that you want to write about in the month that is three months before it's the most popular searched. For example, beach family vacation ideas are searched the most in June. You count back three months, which is March, and write this topic down in March. March is when you would want to write the blog post, create the pins, and start marketing it!
Repeat this exact step for each keyword and phrase until you have gone through your whole blog post ideas list!
Plan Content Categories
It's February, you have your content calendar out, looking over the topics to write about this month. Make sure to hit each of your blog categories for the whole month! You want a well~evened~out blog.
If your content pillars for a travel blog are family destinations, travel tips and advice, and travel guides, then you want to ensure that you have a blog post to go under each of those categories. I go into more detail about blog categories in, Blog Categories List By Niche, and Blog Categories 101.
